Eliminate The Night Before Travel Anxiety

Eliminate The Night Before Travel Anxiety

I confess, even though I’m a frequent traveler and a travel professional, I often have “the night before travel” anxiety. I can’t sleep worrying if I’ve forgotten anything. This leaves me tired and not as clear-minded as I should be at the start of my trip.

So, I’ve decided to put together a pre-trip, anti-anxiety list of things to do the night before.

Pull out a travelers’ checklist that you’ve hopefully prepared earlier.

A Travelers Checklist will provide you with the blueprint you need to make sure everything is done. This organizational tool will give you comfort in knowing you’re getting everything done.

Download, Print out and Pack it

This applies to all of your travel documents, your itinerary, confirmations, passport, and cash. These are the most important items and should be tackled first. Put these items in your carry on bag or personal item right away.

Back it up

In addition to downloading your documents, hopefully, you’ve turned on a cloud back up. The cloud has really replaced the flash drive and believe me, it’s a great thing to have because you can access your files anywhere and whenever you have wi-fi.

Charge it

I’m not talking about your credit cards. With the number of portable devices we use today, it’s best to start your trip with a full charge on everything. Plug each item in and charge them, this includes your portable charger.

Take another look

Give your itinerary a once over from start to finish to make sure you not only have all of your confirmations, but there are no surprises, items you’ve missed or activities you may need to pack for.

Go through your packing list again

Hopefully, you’ve followed some of my other tips in keeping your toiletry and Rx bags packed and in your luggage. Even if you did, check them both to make sure you’re not running low on any items and that you pack those items that are only for this trip. Items you may not for every trip include, bug repellent, sun protection lotion, etc. our Rx bag should include OTC drugs (see my OTC medication list). Prescription medications will need to be added. Side note: Keep your prescription medications in their original bottle with your doctors information and medication lable in case of emergency.

Now you’re ready for a good night’s Sleep

You’ll need it! Travel can be tiring and having a good night’s rest will prepare you anything that may come your way.

Yours truly,

Ja’Vonne, aka, The Traveling Culturati
