Managing Coronavirus Fears

Managing Coronavirus Fears

As a travel company and professional, our office has received numerous calls from concerned and downright afraid clients. regarding the Coronavirus.

Will you cancel our trip to protect us against the virus? I’m afraid to travel! Should we travel? Is it safe for us to travel? What about the travel ban?

To all of these questions I say, we must focus only on the facts. I know it’s difficult to manage fears when we are bombarded with coronavirus reports almost 24/7. Add to that the degree of uncertainty as the numbers and reports change constantly.

The focus seems to be on travel because it is a global occurrence and concern. However, the main focus shouldn’t be on travel but rather the overall approach, whether you travel or not to protect yourself, good hygiene practices, who is most at risk of severity or fatality and where are the hotspots!

Focusing on those facts and staying informed, not inflamed by the CDC, WHO and US State Department will help manage fears, and not make decisions based solely on fear.

“Fear defeats more people than any other one thing in the world.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson. And, “Ignorance is the parent of fear.” – Herman Melville
