Are you ready for summer vacay or staycay? Well, get ready to do it in true Culturati style!
First rule – Keep it simple!
It’s hot and you should be easy breezy.
Wear light pieces of cotton, preferably loose and flowing to let the breeze circulate. If you perspire a lot, wear an undershirt that is moisture wicking.
Don’t forget your sun hat or fedora to block the sun. We don’t want premature wrinkles or sun damage. If you’re traveling get a crushable to withstand folding and packing.
Sun glasses are for more than style. Sun glasses also protect your eyes from the sun. Look for ones with UV protection against UVA and UVB rays. Also, look for ones that have polarized lenses that reduce glare and that adjust for different lighting. Check out All About Vision for information on what to look for in sunglasses for protection.
Stylish, comfortable and supportive sandals are a necessity. Flip flops are not only a thing of the past, but they are also horrible for your feet. Fashion does not have to sacrifice health or comfort.
Don’t overdo it with perfume. If you wear perfume at all, go for something light and barely noticeable. It’s too hot for strong scents.
The same with make-up. There’s nothing worse than seeing someone’s make-up bead up with perspiration and streak down their face. Plus, your pores will be crying for help. Summertime gives us that summer glow so go with it and just use a little bronzer, mascara, and lipstick. If you have blemishes, use concealer in those areas.
Gotta have the perfect bag! Whether you’re at the beach or about town, a nice tote will hold everything you need and look good too. Just be careful not to weigh it down. Travel light!
What you’ll need in a pinch;
- A mister for when it’s too hot and you just need to cool down a bit. Use spring water, rosewater or a hydrating mist. My favorites on the list are Evian Mineral Spray and Caudalie Grape Water. Check out This list.
- Deodorant towelettes (towelettes sound better than wipes) for when you’ve been a bit active and you want to stay fresh.
- Blotters for those moments past a subtle dew. Blotters are much better than tissue, they won’t get stuck to your face or take off your make-up.
- Tinted lip balm. My fav is Burt’s Bees.
Let’s do summer!
