Traveling for me is about being efficient, organized and compact. Honestly, I’m not that way in general but, travel forces me to be more organized when I’m on the road. I guess after having many situations when I wished I had been more organized taught me a lesson.
Getting organized is simple and as you travel more, you realize your needs and those things that make travel more comfortable for you. You then adjust and add those things to your list.
Lists are important tools & tasks for organized travel. Here is a “list of lists” you should have and follow:
Travelers Checklist for the things you need to do in preparation for your trip
Packing List for the things you need to pack
RX List for the basic medical needs – think over-the-counter medications and those small mishaps that require minor medical attention.
Electronics List, for all your electronics. This can be part of your packing list as well.
Home checklist & Work Check List – for the things that need attention during your absence. In this case, you should also appoint a go-to person.
An Emergency Contact Check List, which should include your itinerary and contact details. You should also appoint an Emergency Contact Person, someone you trust, is responsible and available to assist you should an emergency occur.
Your overall Travel Check List should have, before, during and after needs and those things that need attending to while you’re traveling. It should incorporate the other lists combined but If you think of them independently, your Travel Checklist will be complete.
